Paint-A-Thon... GO!

Hello, friends! Today I am writing to you from my hotel room in beautiful Lombard, Illinois, now with just under a day to go until my first event at Adepticon. Woo-hoo! After unloading my gear last night and settling in to my new home for the next four days, I tried to put in some time with the brushes but was too worn out from the drive to make much progress. No worries, though, as I am set to spend the day painting away on my Dark Elves. Also DrGabe should be here in a few hours and he says he is looking forward to helping me out as my painting assistant. Hehehe... sucker! :)

I'm sure I'll be busy not only today while painting but also during the Con itself. I therefore don't know how often I'll be able to post updates while here but I will check-in when I can. If you're interested however I believe DrGabe will be posting twitter updates during AdeptiCon so you can follow along with his own adventures in gaming by that means. Our schedules wil overlap somewhat although he is playing in only 40k events during the weekend. He does already have pictures of his army posted which can be seen here and here. I'll be commanding part of his Imperial Guard army, the Cadian Blackjacks, during the 40k team tournament on Saturday. I don't know yet which portion of the army will be fighting and dying for my glory, but I do have my eye on a certain HQ model that looks suitably distinguished...

Okay gang, I've got painting to do... I hope it's a great one for you and that anyone traveling today has a safe and pleasant experience. Take care!!

  7. Poor JJ- I made him paint deep into the night and then early the next morning. Then pushed him out of the elevator to roll dice with his freshly painted up dark elves. Fresh with straight out of the bag GF9 movement trays!
The whole trip was a riot. I am sure that more updates will be coming in time.

  9. I don't remember the details, but yes she blew her self up at least once and only survived one game. :( BUt he said it with a smile on his face, so I am guessing that the explosion was a mighty one indeed!

  13. @ EVERYONE - Thank you, thank you! I apologize that it has taken me so long to reply (oh my goodness, I have been busy!), but I truly appreciated all of your messages of encouragement and best wishes for the weekend. I had a fantastic time and was luckier with the dice than my generalship deserved. Heck, I even won a couple of games! Thank you again for cheering me on, I will provide a summary of the events once I've recovered a bit. :) Thanks!!

@ Derina - Don't worry about the Sorceress, she'll have plenty of chances in the future to redeem herself... or destroy more of her own men. Either way I still have fun! I really enjoyed this first experience with my army and look forward to them being a major part of my gaming focus in the future. Thanks, Derina!

@ DrGabe - Those GF9 trays worked out well, or at least better than either the GW ones designed to make me feel like an idiot or else those phantom, nonexistent Litko ones.... ;) Thanks again for all the help, I had an awesome time and am already thinking about next year. Maybe we can get together again before then, too. Take care, buddy!

@ whencannonsfade - Thanks, Hoagy! I too had a really great time meeting you and was very grateful for the opportunity to hang out with you and the guys, even if I wasn't able to make it in time for the show. We should definitely make plans again for next year, throwing some dice around sounds like it would be a blast!

As for the car, it took some creative solutions but I was able to get home in one piece. :) I didn't head out on the road leaving from Chicago until around 6:30pm Monday after having the car checked out, and so I just arrived home a couple of hours ago. However everything turned out well and I made it home safely.

It was a long drive but listening to your EP made the trip back far more enjoyable. BRILLIANT WORK! My only complaint was that it made me even more frustrated that I didn't get to hear Crusader play live. But I'm confident this won't have been my only chance. I look forward to the next time we get to hang out... thanks, friend!
