Pericles Class Fleet Carrier WIP

I'm still magnetizing the turrets for my Covenant of Antarctica ships, now having placed 20 magnets of 40 total, but I feel I need a break from dropping magnets and swearing. Therefore I have also started painting my first big ship for Dystopian Wars, the CoA Pericles Class Fleet Carrier. It is a lovely model with lots of neat little details to discover as you paint. So far I've had a lot of fun working on my Dystopian Wars stuff and this one is no exception. In fact I suspect these larger ships will be even more enjoyable to paint than the little guys. It's off to a good start at least. :)

The hulls are washed and dry so I'm ready to begin picking out all the details. Due to the funky design of this vessel I plan on painting almost everything before assembling the launch ramps and command bridge. I can't imagine trying to paint the interior of the ship if it were already glued together. Yikes!

Okay, back to painting....

  2. Dystopian Wars sounds pretty neat. Kinda what battlefleet gothic should be:) Question is, is it fun to play? Because the ships looks damn nice and you can get an armada box thing for not that much:)

  3. @ Musings of a Smurf - Will do... thank you, MoaS!

@ Flekkzo - Yeah, I'm still waiting to find out the answer to that question as well. I think the rulebook could use a little reorganizing or something but otherwise I really like what I've seen so far. I hope the game is a lot of fun since the price to get started is nice. I'll be sure to report on how things go once I'm actually playing. Thanks, Flekkzo!

  4. Wow! All your DW minis are looking great! I also love that blue theme you are using. Nice work PapaJJ! ;D

I'll be waiting for a battle report! The price and the minis made me think about starting playing this game before even being released! I should convince some friends and broke my selfpromise-not-to-start-another-army but alas... It's still a possibility :P

    Keep up the nice work!

PS: those things are even smaller than I thought!! Could you upload a pic with a WHFB mini sometime in the future? =3

  5. The minis are looking great. I just realized this is the game my buddy wants me to paint some miniatures for, so I will get a taste maybe it will be enough to get me hooked ;-)

  6. Can't wait to see them completed. Wow... I knew the Pericles was big but DAMN! Thats a huge ship by Dystopian Wars standards!

  8. @ Nesbet - Lol! I'll try to get a battle report ready as quickly as I can but I still have a lot of painting to do... I need to paint faster! :) To avoid technically breaking your no-new-armies vow, just collect ships and call it a Navy! Oh and next time I take pictures, I will include a WHFB mini with one of the ships for reference. Thank you, Nesbet!

@ Meatball - Hey, that's awesome news that you will get to paint some miniatures for this game. That's a nice way to see if they're to your liking without having to spend your own money. Very cool! If it's okay with your buddy I hope you can post some photos of the models that you paint for him. I'm sure they'll look great. Thanks, Meatball!

@ Bo Bo - Yeah, I didn't realize how big the Pericles is until I actually compared it to my other ships. It's longer than the CoA battleship with a much chunkier feel to it, even without the launch racks in place. (Apparently there is no shortage of resin at the South Pole.) Thanks, Bo Bo!

@ John Lambshead - Hahaha! I apologize then for being complicit in your temptation. Steel yourself, man! :) Thank you, John!

  9. Liking the green on the tinsie-winsie models. This lead to me remember that I have one your ships in my basement... what do I do with it!?!
